List Of Horror Movies That Don’t Suck

Horror flicks have always been the favorite genre of a lot of flick enthusiasts all over the world. Regrettably horror films don’t get the respect from film critics that some other genres receive. It is extremely tough to produce a really good and frightening horror movie. The list of horror motion pictures that are actually any good isn’t long. Slasher films tried to substitute horror flicks about 20 years ago but those aren’t real horror movies. On any list of horror flicks that do not suck you’ll find several really frightening films. Here is my list of horror films that are worth watching.

“Rosemary’s Baby” may be a bit dated these days and may not provide you with the sort of chills it did when it initially arrived on the scene, but it’s still one of the excellent atmospheric flicks ever made and still can creep you out. “Psycho” might have been the very first slasher movie but it is a real scary picture and has all of the gothic trademarks of excellent horror movies plus a dangerous and corny contemporary setting that everyone who’s ever stayed at a roadside motel can attest to.

“The Exorcist” certainly remains at the top on anyone’s list of horror flicks that don’t suck. If you have never seen it, then you have to to drop anything and everything you’re working on and go purchase it right now. Put it on your big flat tv screen this evening and watch it with someone else that has never watched it. It’s still the most unsettling and significantly terrifying film ever made by a longshot and will certainly keep you awake for several nights to come. This movie is unquestionably not for small children and not for the faint of heart. It is very brutal and very disturbing.

“The Blair Witch Project” was perhaps the greatest grossing movie of all time in any genre because it cost so little to produce and yet generated hundreds of millions of dollars. Making use of handheld shaky cameras the movie is a mock documentary of a group of students shooting a documentary on the famous “Blair Witch” in the Maryland forest. The 3 students get lost deep in the forest and experience a number of truly horrifying things out there. Without spoiling it you need to stick with this one till the very end.

2009′s Blair Witch Project was a little independent movie called “Paranormal Activity” and is about a suburban couple who find their San Diego house haunted by an evil demon (are there some other kinds?) and they once again use handheld cameras and night vision cameras to film the ghostly situations. This is a movie that starts slowly but develops to a surprising final act. This movie joins our list of horror films that don’t suck mainly because it will definitely scare you. The majority of the directors of these films have gone on to better glory outside the independent horror arena. Directors like Ethan and Joel Coen (The Big Lebowski) as well as Sam Raimi (Spiderman) have began in the independent horror circuit only to discover themselves with huge Hollywood careers.
